It's time to Renew the Pride!

Welcome to the LPP Alumni page - a place for alumni to share news, upcoming events and community activities. Alumni may also log log into the LPP Alumni Directory to connect to other alumni throughout the community. LPP's programs have prepared leaders for community service for over 30 years. It is the mission of the LPP Alumni Network is to connect graduates of every LPP program, engage them for greater community awareness & involvement, and mobilize them for effective action.

The LPP Alumni Directory allows Alumni to post and update their contact information, community interests, and activities. It is a secure sight so your information is not accessible to anyone except other LPP alumni that log on. The Alumni Directory is a great tool because of it’s searchable capabilities. You can find other alumni who may have similar interests – or candidates for board positions etc. This site becomes more useful as more alumni log on and create rich profiles. Thank you for staying connected.

Name:
Jane M. Young
Occupation:
Certified Financial Planner and Co-Owner of Pinnacle Financial Concepts, Inc.
What I remember most:Two things come to mind when I think about my LPP experience. Our visit to the Corrections Center and seeing the over crowding first hand. I was stunned to see all of the beds in the dining hall. Additionally, I will never forget Social Services day - eating with the homeless people at the Marion House and taking a tour of the Red Cross Shelter. These were very impactful experiences.
Current community involvement: I am currently the President of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs, the downtown club. I am finishing my second, three year, term as a Trustee on the Leadership Pikes Peak Board and I serve on the UCCS College of Business Alumni Leadership Board. I am also a member of the Colorado Springs Estate Planning Council, Artemis, the Colorado Springs Executive Association and the Chamber of Commerce. We are affiliated with several financial planning organizations including the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors with which I just finished coordinating the local stop of the national Your Money Bus Tour.
What our community could do better: Our citizens are not willing to make an investment in our city. I think this is due to both a lack of understanding of the financial issues facing our city and a lack of trust in our city leaders. This stems from a lack of knowledge about local issues and a failure to pay the City Council a reasonable salary. I think LPP Alumni can continue the effort to inform and educate our citizens about the financial issues facing our city.

How LPP alumni could help: Add some “environment” sessions to programs

Name:
Bill Pattee
Occupation:
Administrative Director and Co-Owner of Springs Mortgage, Inc.
What I remember most:When I think back to my LPP experience, the first thing that comes to mind is the change of perspective that I gained from being up-close and personal with city leaders in key leadership positions. I came away with great respect for the number of quality individuals that work so hard to represent us in this great city. I was also touched by the true struggle that so many are experiencing, and the heart they are showing in their day to day efforts. My other lasting memory is of a few especially interesting and impactful days, including arts and culture, human services day and military day.
Current community involvement: I am currently a member of the downtown Rotary Club, a member of the Leadership Pikes Peak Alumni Board, and active with Senior Community activities.
What our community could do better: Create a better environment for success with our City Council. Support and cultivate a broader base of future leaders and improve communication about important local issues with our citizens.

ChuckName:
Chuck Allton
LPP Program and graduation year:
LPP Signature Program 2006 "The Best Class Ever!"
Occupation:
Account Exec III, Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA, Inc.
What I remember most: I remember that there are so many aspects about the inner workings of Colorado Springs Community that most people never see or understand. LPP was a tremendously "eye-opening" experience for me and I came away with much greater comprehension and appreciation of what it takes to make a diverse Community work. Leadership in Politics, Business, the Arts, Human Services are all critical to the success of Colorado Springs.
Current community involvement: Board Member, Childrens Ark, ( a Residential Treatment Center for At-Risk Youth) also serve on Safety Committees for the Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
What our community could do better: While there are many caring and generous individuals concerned and involved in the Community, it seems that this same Group of Leaders is involved in (everything). Long term, it would certainly benefit Colorado Springs to have a much larger and more diverse Group of Community Leaders involved.
How LPP alumni could help: Stress that it is an expectation of Leadership Pikes Peak that all Graduates, (LPP Signature, Leadership Now, etc) become involved in some way in the Community.

What our community could do better: Care more about community interests more than self interests
How LPP alumni could help: Become more involved in the political process, advocate with neighbors and friends, do not accept the status quo regarding City budget and services.
