Passport to Service Happy Hour (Formally Speed Boarding)

Leadership Pikes Peak loves connecting leaders (present and future!) with each other. This even is like speed dating, except Leadership Pikes Peak alumni and local professionals get to spend a few minutes with representatives of local nonprofits that are looking for people to serve on their boards of directors or a committee.

We are reviewing and recreating the Speed Boarding event currently. Look for a new format in 2018!

“Leadership Pikes Peak Speed Boarding event is a great opportunity to meet local non-profits looking for new board members.  As a young professional I attended the Speed Boarding event and found a place on the Pikes Peak Children’s Museum Board that met my passion for helping children.  It’s been a learning experience and I highly suggest that anyone looking to get more involved in the Colorado Springs community look to attend.  Out of the event I had several opportunities to volunteer and got to select the one that best fit me.”

“Since graduating from LNOW! in 2011, I’ve been inspired to become involved with the Colorado Springs community. I started off by volunteering with a couple of nonprofits, but found that I  wanted to contribute more. I heard about the Speed Boarding event and decided to give it a shot. To be honest I was nervous to go. I had the preconceived idea that only well-established professionals served on Boards; I was one-hundred percent wrong. Speed Boarding is an excellent way to connect with multiple organizations that share a common interest with your own. I connected really well with two different nonprofits and decided to join the Board for Special Kids Special Families. It’s been almost a year, and during this time I have learned a lot while contributing to an organization whose mission I strongly support. If you are someone who is eager to support our community, I highly recommend Speed Boarding.”
